It has always been a childhood dream
To play for my Country with a high esteem
No wonder they say that hard work pays
Success can’t be determined by counting the number of days
Just One year ago, when I first wore my Team's Cap
Everyone thought I was an ordinary Chap
As days passed by and runs piled up
I told everyone that I was just warming up
When we played host to the team who always boast
We emerged as winners and I raised the toast
As Captain then, I firmly pledged
Success is to those who learn to pull a heavy sledge
As I reached the peak, and could play all strokes from the book
But had not realized the time it took
For several months I served my land
For now it was time to give it in a other’s hand
As I sat back remembering those memorable games
I was shocked that people could not remember our names
But all that I want is neither money nor fame
Just Cricket to be a Gentleman’s Game
